At Binya, our customers have loved this line since we started carrying it! These beautifully crafted and designed decoupaged oyster shells can be used as napkin rings, blessing beads, wine stoppers, trinket trays, jewelry holders, and more. We asked the new owner, daughter of Michelle Allen, Megan Ferguson a few questions to share with our readers.
Tell us about why you are changing the name from Michelle Allen Designs to Ten Twenty Six Designs? In September of 2024 I took over the business from her and renamed it Ten Twenty Six Design. I am keeping pretty much everything the same, but always introducing new products as they come to me!
When did you start working with your Mom and making these goodies with her? Did she train you? I started working with my mom full time in 2020 after she started this business as a side hustle/ hobby. She trained me on how to make the items that she was already selling and together we grew the business coming up with more and more items for a few years before she decided that she wanted to retire and peruse other hobbies like making small batches of pottery here on Hilton Head.
What same things can customers expect? Customers can expect the same high quality items as before. Are decoupaged items like shells, ornaments, and wine stoppers are our most popular items because we take the time to make sure the shell is perfect along with the decoupage process.
What are your growth plans -- do you plan on expanding your business into other areas? I sell mostly on Faire Wholesale to stores around the country and a few internationally and I hope to continue growing and reaching more stores everywhere!
What inspires you to create? I’m inspired by things around me! Being born and raised on Hilton Head I have such a love for nature, shells, and other natural materials. I love to add shells to my designs because they bring me so much joy
