Introducing Project Have Hope

Project Have Hope is an exciting initiative aimed at empowering marginalized communities, primarily in Uganda, through sustainable development and entrepreneurship. We are so proud to be carrying their products now at Binya! You are now able to support this wonderful initiative in Uganda, right here in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina! From a bottle cap trivet to coasters, to fashionable earrings – we are now carrying a number of these products.

With a focus on providing women with the tools and resources they need to build a better future for themselves and their families, Project Have Hope is a Free Trade Initiative.  With Free Trade, women are using their skills and hard work to help pull themselves out of poverty. At Binya, we love empowering women and women of color.

The impact of Project Have Hope is profound — just meet the artisans and you will be inspired. Okello Christine, a tailor, aims to expand her business and teach others, while Ayat Jackie, a jewelry maker, used her earnings to graduate and start her own salon, aspiring to be a role model for her sister. Akot Josephine, who creates unique jewelry, supports her children's education, and Patrick crafts intricate paper products to fund his family's schooling. Jennifer, an HIV-positive entrepreneur, has built a diverse income through various ventures, providing for her family and counseling others in similar situations. Together, these artisans exemplify resilience and empowerment within their communities.

Many beneficiaries have successfully launched their own businesses, leading to increased income and improved living standards. Success stories abound, with women reporting enhanced self-esteem, greater community involvement, and the ability to send their children to school.

Economic Empowerment

Project Have Hope supports women entrepreneurs by providing them with skills training in various trades, such as sewing, crafting, and agriculture. The project also offers microloans, enabling women to start or expand their businesses. This financial support is crucial in a region where access to traditional banking services is limited.

Women Sponsorship

Project Have Hope strives to enable women in Uganda’s Acholi Quarter to achieve economic independence through sustainable business initiatives with this unique and personalized sponsorship program.  This sponsorship program invites individuals to contribute $25/month for one year to assist one of these female entrepreneurs. The Ugandan woman receives funds to invest in her future.

Education and Training

Education is a cornerstone of Project Have Hope’s initiatives. The project organizes workshops and training sessions that cover essential business skills, financial literacy, and personal development. By equipping women with knowledge and skills, Project Have Hope fosters confidence and leadership within the community.

Child Sponsorship

Project Have Hope supports education for children in Uganda through a scholastic sponsorship program. With this, you develop a personal connection with your sponsored child. You will receive regular progress reports, letters, or drawings from your sponsored child, plus it helps the family!

Project Have Hope actively engages with local communities to ensure that their initiatives are culturally relevant and meet the specific needs of the people they serve. By fostering a sense of ownership among community members, the project enhances participation and sustainability.

Project Have Hope stands as a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives in addressing poverty and empowering individuals. By focusing on women’s empowerment, the project not only transforms individual lives but also uplifts entire communities. We are thrilled to be carrying several products that you can shop and feel good about supporting.
