Product Feature- Poppin Lips by J!

A little girl and her lipgloss is an important bond. It’s usually the first real makeup product they own and it carries a lot of sentimental value. 10-year-old Journee and her lipgloss was no different, however now it holds a little more than just sentiment. It’s a full on business!

Journee’s mother saw how important her lipgloss was to her and saw her potential in helping her with a business opportunity. And so Poppin Lips by J was born! Journee wants other girls to have a lipgloss with the same special feeling that she did. The makeup line has vegan, cruelty free lip products in all sorts of fun flavors and shades, and are meant to give little girls a best gloss friend. Don’t worry adults, these flavors are kid and adult friendly! Though young, Journee has come into the business learning as she goes, and is continuing to find her confidence and inner business woman.

Journee states she learned a lot from social media platforms, seeing how businesses are run without the support of working for other people. Learning how to manage your own company is no easy feat for anyone, but young Journee is doing a fantastic job at studying up and learning. She also has come to understand that quality always comes before quantity, and rushing will get you nowhere especially when making products that go on your face.

Now that her inventory and business is growing steadily, she’s learning to count money and deal with the earnings accordingly. Only in fifth grade, attending Hilton Head Island Elementary School for the Creative Arts, Journee’s line has an inventory of cosmetics, smaller accessories, and a fully branded name. She markets her products with branded packaging, and has a logo that serves all of her marketing and social media purposes.

Journee runs her own video platform and markets as not only a very young woman running her own business, but as a black owned business as well. Journee is an important lesson to other little girls that limitations shouldn’t stop you, she has already accomplished so much at such a young age, and continues to impress the island of Hilton Head and beyond. She strives to keep making a name for herself and her brand, something she cares deeply about.
