Empowering Local Impact Through Cultural Championing

Introducing Binya Cultural Impact Consulting: a new division of Binya designed to help organizations impact the local community by becoming more socially responsible and connecting with the local culture.

Since 2022, Binya has been curating and retailing beautiful Lowcountry and Gullah artisan gifts and accessories at our store on 556 Spanish Well Road. Today, we’re so much more than a store. Through our initiatives and new consulting services, we aim to educate all people about the Gullah culture, inspire conservation and love of the Lowcountry, and positively impact the community.

Binya

“Binya” is a Gullah Geechee term that translates to “been here.”  It’s used to describe people who are native to the Lowcountry and affectionately used to revere Gullah heritage and culture.  From delicious southern stews to delightful spiritual songs, Gullah heritage is a dense part of our roots on Hilton Head Island.

Founder and owner, Lola Campbell, is a native islander whose family has been on the Island for 6 generations.  She shares her passion for heritage and celebrates the Lowcountry with residents and visitors of all races and backgrounds with Binya Hilton Head, now celebrating it’s second year!

We value shopping local, shopping small, and supporting other entrepreneurs, especially minority or women owned.

Our products are locally sourced or locally made from small businesses and artisans. When you shop with Binya, you support a community of small businesses and people like these.   Learn more about our store here.
